Guinness World Records attempt: World’s largest LEGO® brick caravan!

Caravanning Queensland and Top Parks have come together and set their sights on the Guinness World Records books, and have attempted to create the world’s largest LEGO® brick caravan.

After 10 weeks of planning, the project was created by a team of up to 20 adult fans of LEGO over a period of over 20 weeks, using over 280, 000 individual bricks held together by 70L of glue.

The official Guinness World Records adjudication will take place on Wednesday, September 26 at 8.3am at Brisbane Holiday Village, 10 Holmead Road, Eight Mile Plains, Queensland.

Over the years, LEGO® has become a staple in many childhoods. It is estimated that collectively, children around the world spend 5 billion hours a year playing with LEGO bricks. For some it is simple fun, for others an educational experience, and for many it is a way to bond with friends and family members.

All around Australia, caravan and camping trips are also a quintessential aspect of many childhoods, and bring generations of family members together and providing not only fun and adventure, but also education and experience of Australia’s great outdoors. Research has revealed 97% of campers believe it allows children to learn about the environment, and 94% believe it teaches children life skills

The caravan is a life-size replica of a 1973 Viscount Royal, Australia’s largest caravan manufacturer in the 70’s, and sits atop an original and functioning Viscount chassis, complete with a bed, refrigerator, and cupboards- all made from LEGO bricks.

The project was created to celebrate the 50th Queensland Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow and the idea was developed by John Cochrane Advertising and Gold Coast Brick Builder Ben Craig.
